Terms of Service

These terms cover pest control work carried out by Tampa Pest Shield at properties in Florida. Quotes are valid for 30 days. Work is scheduled once you accept in writing. Payment is due on completion unless a plan says otherwise. Workmanship is warranted, and plans carry free re-treatment between scheduled visits.

1. Who these terms apply to

They apply between Tampa Pest Shield and the person or business who accepts a quote or books a service. If you are booking on behalf of somebody else, for example as a landlord, a property manager or a family member, you confirm you are authorized to allow treatment at that address.

Accepting a quote in writing, by email, by text or by signing an agreement, means these terms apply to the work.

2. Quotes

Quotes are free and are given after an inspection. A quote is valid for 30 days from its date.

A quote covers the pests, the structures and the areas named on it. It is based on what was visible and reachable at the inspection. Where something is hidden behind finished surfaces, under a floor, inside a wall or in an area we could not access, it falls outside the quote until it has been seen.

Verbal estimates given over the phone before an inspection are indicative and are not binding on either side.

3. Booking, access and preparation

We agree a date and send an arrival window by text before the visit.

You agree to provide access to the areas being treated, including gates, garages, attic hatches, crawl spaces and any locked room named in the quote. Somebody aged 18 or over must be present for interior work unless you have agreed access arrangements with us in advance.

Where a job needs preparation, for example bed bug or German cockroach work, we send a written list beforehand. If the preparation has not been done when we arrive, the treatment may have to be rescheduled and a return visit fee may apply.

Please secure pets before we arrive and tell us about fish tanks, reptiles, beehives, birds and any pollinator planting, so that placements can be adjusted. Tell us in advance if anyone at the property is pregnant, has a respiratory condition, or has a known chemical sensitivity.

4. How the work is carried out

Products are applied according to their labels. The label governs where a product may be used, the rate, and any re-entry period. We will tell you any waiting time before the visit ends, and the product name and label information are available on request at any time.

Interior treatment uses targeted placements in cracks, voids and harborage areas. If you would prefer a particular room, surface or area left untreated, say so and we will work around it, though that may affect the result and the warranty on that area.

5. Pricing and changes to scope

The price on an accepted quote holds for the work described on it.

Additional work found once we start, for example a second structure with termite activity, an attic in worse condition than it looked from the hatch, or rooms beyond those quoted, is priced separately. We will stop, tell you what has been found and what it costs, and continue only after you agree. Nothing extra is added to an invoice without your say so.

Plan prices may be reviewed annually. We give at least 30 days notice in writing before a plan price changes, and you may cancel within that period without penalty.

6. Payment

One-time treatments: due on completion of the visit.

Plans: billed on the cycle stated on your agreement, in advance of the service period.

Termite treatments and larger jobs: a deposit may be required before scheduling, with the balance due on completion. The deposit amount is stated on the quote.

We accept card and bank transfer. Invoices unpaid after 30 days may carry interest at the maximum rate permitted by Florida law, and service under a plan may be suspended until the account is settled.

7. Cancellation and missed visits

Cancel or reschedule a booked visit with at least 24 hours notice and there is no charge.

Less than 24 hours notice, no access on arrival, or nobody present where presence was required, may incur a call out fee of up to $75.

Plans can be cancelled with 30 days written notice. Where a plan was discounted on the basis of a minimum term stated on your agreement, cancelling before that term ends may mean repaying the discount taken. The term is printed on the agreement and confirmed with you before you sign.

8. Warranty and what it covers

We warrant our workmanship. If a treatment we carried out has not done its job, tell us and we will return and re-treat the covered pest at no charge.

Plans include free re-treatment between scheduled visits for the pests named on the plan, for as long as the plan is active.

Termite treatments and any separate termite warranty or bond are set out in their own agreement, including the term, what triggers a renewal, and whether damage repair is included. Read that document, because a re-treatment warranty and a damage repair warranty are different things.

The warranty does not cover new activity caused by conditions outside our control: structural changes, a new addition or slab that breaks a treated barrier, landscaping or excavation that disturbs treated soil, untreated wood brought into the property, a roof or plumbing leak, a neighboring infestation, or refusal of access for scheduled visits.

Pest control manages populations and access routes. No company can guarantee that an insect or rodent will never again enter a building in Florida, and we do not make that promise.

9. Damage and responsibility

We take care in and around your property. Tell us before work starts about fragile items, irrigation lines, low voltage cabling, septic components, pool equipment and anything buried near the foundation, so that trenching or drilling can avoid them.

Drilling through a slab, a patio, tile or pavers is sometimes necessary for a termite barrier. Holes are plugged afterwards. Color and texture matching of plugs in decorative surfaces cannot be guaranteed, and where that matters we discuss it before we drill.

10. Limitation of liability

Our total liability for any claim connected to the work is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in question, except where the law does not allow that limit.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of income, loss of rent, loss of business or damage to property caused by a condition that existed before we attended.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

11. Complaints

Call the office first. Most issues are solved with a return visit. If that does not resolve it, put the complaint in writing to office@tampapestshield.com and we will respond within ten working days with what we propose to do.

Pest control businesses in Florida are regulated by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, which also handles consumer complaints about licensed pest control work.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida. Any dispute arising from them will be dealt with in the state or federal courts serving Hillsborough County, Florida.

If a court finds any part of these terms unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
